Southcoast Health is a not-for-profit, community-based health system with multiple access points, offering an integrated continuum of health services throughout southeastern Massachusetts and Rhode Island.

The system includes three hospitals — Charlton Memorial Hospital in Fall River (founded in 1885), St. Luke’s Hospital in New Bedford (founded in 1884), and Tobey Hospital in Wareham (founded in 1938). These hospitals merged on June 9, 1996, to form Southcoast Hospitals Group and operate under a single hospital license, with a total of 815 beds. Southcoast Health now also includes Southcoast Behavioral Health in Dartmouth.

Obtaining her high school diploma from Diman Regional Vocational Tech High School, Sandra went on to earn her nursing degree in 2000. Years later, in 2018, she graduated with her Bachelor of Science in Nursing degree from Curry College.

Dedicated to the profession of nursing, she attributes her success to her love of helping others in need and making a difference.

A Registered Nurse (RN) is a nurse who has graduated from a nursing program and met the requirements outlined by a country, state, province, or similar licensing body to obtain a nursing license. RNs fulfill a variety of job duties. In addition to their primary role in treating and caring for patients, their responsibilities also include educating patients and the public about a variety of medical conditions, as well as providing emotional support and advice to the families of their patients. Other RN job functions include leadership, research, performing diagnostic tests and analyzing results, operating medical equipment, administering medications, recording patients’ symptoms and medical histories, and assisting with patient rehabilitation and follow-up.
