“HCR001- Adam Collins – Get Me Started EP” Marks a Milestone for Seattle’s House Music Label
House Music enthusiasts, get ready to add a fresh slice of wax to your collection! House Cleaning Records (HCR) has just dropped their first vinyl release, and it’s got the scene buzzing. Founded in 2021 by industry veterans Kyle Douglas and Jenn Sturgill, HCR has been steadily building momentum, and now they’re ready to make some serious noise.
“HCR001 – Adam Collins – Get Me Started EP” isn’t just any record – it’s a labor of love that embodies everything HCR stands for – community, comradery, inclusion, and bold exploration. The label chose Adam Collins of Euphoria Records for their debut release, and it’s clear why. Adam isn’t just a longtime producer; he’s a friend and mentor to the HCR crew. Their relationship started at an event co-produced with Restless Planet in 2022, and it’s been a beautiful friendship ever since.
The EP is a journey through four distinct tracks, each with its own personality. “Get Me Started” kicks things off with a high-energy, dancefloor-ready groove that’s a departure from Adam’s usual tech house sound. Think rhythmic pianos, bongos, and a hefty Juno 106 baseline that screams “summer party.” Next up, “Upstart” takes us underground with a funky, pacey track born from a quirky Chicago street scene. Side B brings us “Kucni Snimak” (that’s Serbian for “Home Movie”), a deep minimal roller perfect for those after-hours chill sessions. The EP rounds out with “Vracar,” an eclectic groover named after the Belgrade neighborhood where Adam composed most of these tunes.
Each record has a personal touch – hand-labeled by Kyle and Jenn. It’s this kind of attention to detail that sets HCR apart. They’re even tucking little notes into some of the sleeves. Talk about a collector’s item!
Now, let’s rewind a bit and talk about the folks behind HCR. Kyle Douglas is a Chicago-bred DJ with over 23 years of experience under his belt. He’s not just any DJ – Kyle’s got a unique talent for mixing both vinyl and digital, and he’s known for his aggressive mixing style and precise programming. When he’s not behind the decks, Kyle’s working as a civil engineer, bringing that analytical mindset to the music industry.
Then there’s Jenn Sturgill, a true Renaissance woman. She’s been deep in the House Music scene for over 15 years, wearing many hats – from event manager to nightclub promoter. But that’s not all – Jenn’s also a licensed Private Pilot with plans to become a Commercial Seaplane Charter Pilot. Talk about reaching for the sky!
Together, Kyle and Jenn are on a mission to create more than just a record label. They’re building a family, a movement, and a platform for talent to grow. HCR is all about creating safe spaces and fostering collaboration across generations.
But wait, there’s more! HCR is offering a whole suite of services to support the House Music community. Need a DJ for your next event? They’ve got you covered with artist bookings. Want to learn the ropes of DJing? Check out Kyle Douglas‘ mentoring and training programs. They’re even diving into online streaming, equipment consulting, and event management.
The journey to this first vinyl release hasn’t been easy. Kyle and Jenn have faced their fair share of challenges since founding HCR in early 2021 – from pandemic hurdles to market ripples. But their passion for House Music and commitment to their community kept them going. They’re not just preserving the legacy of House Music; they’re pushing the genre forward. With their blend of analog love and embrace of new technologies, HCR is indeed poised to make waves in the industry.
Keep your eyes and ears on House Cleaning Records. With their first release now out in the world, who knows what they’ll cook up next? One thing’s for sure – it’s going to be one hell of a house party.
