America’s Best in Medicine Highlights Joyce Loos, NP-C: Adult and Geriatric Nurse Practitioner at HealthWorks

Delivering Compassionate, Community-Based Care While Improving Health Outcomes for Older Adults and Underserved Populations

(YourDigitalWall Editorial):- Cheyenne, Wyoming Aug 6, 2026 (Issuewire.com) – Joyce Loos, NP-C, is an accomplished Adult and Geriatric Nurse Practitioner whose career spans more than 37 years of dedicated nursing service. Since joining HealthWorks in 2021, Joyce has been providing compassionate, evidence-based care in a Federally Qualified Health Center (FQHC), where she is committed to improving access to comprehensive healthcare for diverse and underserved patient populations. Her extensive clinical experience, coupled with a lifelong passion for serving others, has established her as a trusted provider dedicated to enhancing the health and well-being of the communities she serves.

Born and raised in Alabama, Joyce began her nursing career in 1989 and has continually expanded her knowledge and expertise through advanced education and hands-on clinical experience. She earned her Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) from the University of Alabama at Birmingham (UAB) in 1999 before completing her Master of Science in Nursing (MSN) at UAB in 2012. Specializing as an Adult and Geriatric Primary Care Nurse Practitioner, she became certified through the American Academy of Nurse Practitioners (AANP). Her graduate education included valuable clinical training within an FQHC setting, along with a residency in UAB Geriatrics that provided extensive experience in inpatient geriatric medicine and strengthened her commitment to caring for older adults.

Throughout her distinguished career, Joyce has developed a broad range of clinical expertise across multiple healthcare settings. Her professional background includes open-heart intensive care, pediatric intensive care for cardiac patients, and home health services. These diverse experiences allowed her to care for patients with highly complex medical conditions while refining the clinical judgment, adaptability, and compassionate communication that continue to define her practice today.

Working in home healthcare and geriatric-focused environments inspired Joyce to dedicate much of her career to serving older adults, particularly those managing chronic illnesses and complex health concerns. She is passionate about helping patients maintain their independence, improve their quality of life, and navigate the challenges associated with aging through personalized, patient-centered care.

Currently practicing at HealthWorks in Wyoming, Joyce provides comprehensive primary care while also supporting addiction treatment programs and caring for patients involved in drug court and detention center programs. She collaborates closely with an interdisciplinary team that includes social workers, pharmacists, dental providers, and other healthcare professionals to ensure patients receive coordinated, whole-person care. Her collaborative approach reflects her belief that addressing both medical and social determinants of health is essential to achieving meaningful and lasting patient outcomes.

Joyce’s commitment to community health has not gone unnoticed. In recognition of her dedication to serving vulnerable populations, she received the United Hero Award from UnitedHealthcare in 2023, honoring her outstanding contributions to improving healthcare access and patient care within her community.

Joyce also maintains active involvement in the nursing profession through membership in the American Academy of Nurse Practitioners (AANP) and the Gerontological Advanced Practice Nurses Association (GAPNA). She is additionally affiliated with Cheyenne Regional Medical Center, further supporting continuity of care for her patients.

“I truly love what I do and find great fulfillment in caring for patients. Over the course of my career, I have had the opportunity to gain a wide range of clinical experience, including many years in ICU open-heart care, pediatric ICU cardiac care, and home health. These diverse roles have shaped my practice and strengthened my ability to care for patients across different levels of acuity and settings. My passion for geriatrics developed during my time at UAB Hospital, where there was a strong emphasis on inpatient geriatric care. Through that training and experience, I discovered a deep commitment to serving the geriatric population, which has remained a central focus of my practice,” Joyce says.

Outside of her professional responsibilities, Joyce enjoys spending time with her family and pets, reading, traveling, fishing, camping, and exploring Wyoming’s scenic landscapes through road trips.

Whether caring for patients, mentoring through her example, or engaging with her community, Joyce Loos continues to embody the values of compassionate healthcare, lifelong learning, and service. Her enduring commitment to improving access to quality care ensures she remains a valued advocate for older adults and underserved populations alike.
