Crypto Payments Reach Global Turning Point Beyond the US

(YourDigitalWall Editorial):- California City, California Aug 19, 2026 (Issuewire.com) – Cryptocurrency has moved beyond its niche status to become a mainstream digital payment method across several global online industries, according to new research published by CryptoCasinoRank. The analysis combines on-chain transaction data from Tanzanite Terminal, payment trends from SOFTSWISS, Chainalysis’s Global Crypto Adoption Index, and a March 2026 US consumer survey conducted by Sapio Research on behalf of Paysafe.

Chainalysis estimates that more than 300 million people worldwide now own cryptocurrency, with Brazil, Nigeria, Indonesia, Vietnam, and the Philippines among the world’s leading adoption markets. Growth has been particularly strong across Europe, Asia, and Latin America, where digital assets increasingly serve both as a payment method and, in some countries, as protection against local currency volatility.

Transaction data tracked by Tanzanite Terminal across 24 crypto-first platforms reached $44.7 billion in 2026, representing an 84% year-on-year increase. Stake recorded $22.1 billion in transaction volume, while Roobet and Bitcasino delivered some of the strongest annual growth among the tracked platforms. Together, the three largest brands account for more than three-quarters of the recorded transaction volume.

Separate payment data from SOFTSWISS shows cryptocurrency now represents around 15% of payment volume across the online entertainment platforms it supports, a substantial increase from only a few years ago. Bitcoin remains the largest cryptocurrency by volume, while stablecoins such as USDT and USDC continue gaining share by reducing price volatility and offering a more practical option for everyday transactions. Industry forecasts suggest stablecoins could account for more than 70% of crypto transactions within this segment by the end of 2026.

The United States presents a contrasting picture. Although regulation remains more restrictive than in many international markets, consumer interest continues to grow. Paysafe’s research found that 83% of surveyed US consumers interested in regulated online wagering would prefer to use cryptocurrency for payments where permitted, while 85% would also like the option to withdraw funds digitally. Adoption has been strongest in the few jurisdictions where these payment methods are already allowed.

Regulation remains one of the biggest factors shaping future growth. Several European countries, including Germany, France, and Greece, do not permit licensed operators to accept cryptocurrency. Brazil also prohibits crypto payments for domestically licensed operators under Law 14,790/2023, despite the country’s high level of digital asset adoption. In parts of Asia, including Japan and South Korea, legislation remains similarly restrictive.

Damien Smith, Publisher at CryptoCasinoRank, believes the research highlights a broader shift in how organisations should view cryptocurrency adoption.

“For years, cryptocurrency payments were often discussed through the lens of US regulation. Today’s data shows a much broader story. Adoption is already well established across Europe, Asia, and Latin America, driven by consumer demand and, in some markets, economic conditions that make digital assets more practical than traditional payment methods.”
