These movies are light-hearted and are specifically made to make you feel good, feel in love, feel emotional, feel warm, feel cozy, and all the other good feelings. This also makes rom-coms the best movies to enjoy with your partner on a movie date night. Who knows you might get some ideas to spice up your love life or find a new appreciation for your partner altogether!

Here is the list of 5 best romantic comedies for you!!!!

  1. 10 Things I Hate About You (1999)

This movie is right on the track to stay in between teenage high-school romance, and a romantic comedy, a typical backdrop for movies that you can enjoy on a date night. The film is based on Shakespeare’s The Taming of the Shrew and features great and mature performances from Julia Stiles and the late, great Heath Ledger. Ledger personifies the character of a lover who is too mature for high school but too young for college. It is a typical trope of black cat energy gf and golden retriever energy bf, bound to tear a string in your heart. The story focuses on the outspoken Kat who unintentionally falls for charming Patrick. You might think what is the problem with that? Well, Patrick was being paid to make Kat fall in love with him and she does not have a clue. It might become hard for you not to swoon to see Patrick’s feelings becoming all too real at the end!

  1. Crazy Rich Asians (2018)

Crazy Rich Asians absolutely bombarded the box office collections when it first came out, and the world knew it was about to change for even rom-coms. It had been decades since 1993’s The Joy Luck Club was released, the last major film to have Asian and Asian American leads and cast. At the same time, the genre of good romantic comedies was experiencing a dry spell which this movie put an end to, by being one of the greatest rom-coms of all time. The film stars Constance Wu as the female lead Rachel who accompanies her boyfriend Henry Golding cast as Nick to a family wedding in Singapore. To her surprise, always modest Nick revealed that his family is crazy rich! Navigating through a family that disapproves of Rachel and a pool of jealous women, Rachel needs to keep on that fight to save her relationship. Can she do it? Does Nick’s family finally give her a seal of approval? Find out by watching it with your beau.

  1. When Harry Met Sally (1989)

Anyone and everyone born in the 90s is well aware of the famous lines “When you realize you want to spend the rest of your life with somebody, you want the rest of your life to start as soon as possible”. Well, this iconic line is from the movie When Harry Met Sally, probably one of the most beloved romantic comedies of not just the nostalgic 90s, but of all time. The movie single-handedly established Meg Ryan as America’s sweetheart and launched the rom-com career of the singular Nora Ephron. The plot follows the age-old question, can men and women ever be just friends? This is the question that truly gets answered in the film and what makes it even more enjoyable and special is the electrifying chemistry between Meg Ryan and Billy Crystal. You have the classic plot of starting off on the wrong foot, bickering love, and the guy pouring his heart out in the climax. Seriously what more could you want from a romantic comedy?

  1. You’ve Got Mail (1998)

At this point, you have to accept that Meg Ryan has delivered some of the greatest room-com roles that Hollywood has ever seen. We have another Meg Ryan-starred film in this list, that will make your heart swoon all over again. You’ve Got Mail is another genre-defining romantic movie from Nora Ephron where she cast Meg alongside Tom Hanks. The story focuses on a struggling indie bookstore owner Kathleen played by Ryan who falls in love with a person she met on the internet. It was based on online dating when online dating was not even a big thing! The plot twist is Kathleen does not know that the man she is crazily in love with is her business rival Joe (Tom Hanks) who just opened a chain bookstore across the street that is putting her out of business. The movie is an ode to the classic The Shop Around the Corner but with its own 90’s charm.

  1. Roman Holiday (1953)

When we are talking about romantic comedies, it is not fair to ignore the classic, Roman Holiday. The movie got the ever-young Audrey Hepburn and Gregory Peck as the lead and if there is one movie that you can credit for inspiring everything from The Prince and Me to Netflix’s The Princess Switch franchise, it is this one. As Princess Ann, Audrey flexes her talent who needs a taste of adventure. She flees from her guards and the gold-plated prison to get her share of adventure with American newsman Joe Bradley, who takes this as the perfect opportunity to get an explosive article. Hepburn and Peck’s chemistry in the film is absolutely undeniable. Watching the duo fall in love while riding a Vespa, and experiencing the journey is a cozy affair for the audience. That is until Joe’s real intention is revealed and the reality of absolutely two different worlds comes back to the focus of the plotline. The ending scene of the film remains one of the most quietly heartbreaking in the history of romantic comedies, so we cannot guarantee that there will not be any heartbreak or crying!

So, what are you waiting for? Set a date, get your popcorn, and enjoy!!!
