Director Competitive Advantage PAC
Veteran attorney and civil rights activist Phillip E. Thompson is announcing the roll out of the Competitive Advantage, PAC, a political action committee that will focus on funding and supporting black and minority candidates for state and local office. Mr. Thompson will serve as the Executive Director of the Competitive Advantage, PAC using his experience as the Executive Director of the National Black Nonpartisan Redistricting Organization and as president of the Loudoun County Branch of the NAACP to help Competitive Advantage, PAC work with candidates to increase black and minority representation in local governments and statehouses nationwide.
Competitive Advantage PAC is dedicated to seeking inclusivity and diversity in our political landscape by championing and advocating for minority candidates in state and local government races. Our mission is to amplify the voices of underrepresented communities by providing financial support and strategic assistance to black and minority candidates seeking public office in state houses, county governments, city halls, school boards, and other locally elected or appointed positions where decisions and policies set by those governmental offices have day-to-day impact on black and minority communities. Through fundraising, strategic support, and grassroots engagement, Competitive Advantage, PAC will support diverse candidates to create a more inclusive democracy where every citizen’s representative perspective and needs are valued and where our government looks more like the citizenry it represents.
Recent events, including the U.S. Supreme Court’s decision on Affirmative Action, have underscored the need to ensure that all voices are sitting at the table when decisions are being made. These events fully demonstrate that the quote, “If you don’t have a seat at the table, you will be on the menu” applies in the American political landscape. Fundraising and campaign support have been a challenge to many black and minority candidates. Competitive Advantage PAC’s goal is to take a collective and grassroots approach to fundraising and focus that support on individuals who will represent the interest of black and minority communities. We look forward to working with candidates all over the United States and hope that Americans will join us in this effort. The future for blacks and minorities in this country will depend on our increased participation in this democratic process.
