(YourDigitalWall Editorial):- New York City, New York Apr 10, 2023 (Issuewire.com) – Upon graduating with his high school diploma from Merrillville High School, Dr. Mbachu went to undergrad at the Loyola University of Chicago for biophysics with a minor in computer science and math.

Throughout college, he focused mostly on courses he knew would be important to get him into the field of medicine. The biggest thing that helped him, however, was interacting with students he believed were more intelligent than he was. They helped him to improve the way he thought about learning and pushed him to do better in his classes.

After four years, Dr. Mbachu graduated summa cum laude (highest honors) and was accepted into the University of Illinois College of Medicine in Chicago. While there, he found multiple mentors that taught him the way to be successful in the field.

Currently, he is a resident of emergency medicine at NYC Health + Hospitals/Bellevue. He participates in a program of graduate medical education and training in a specialized area of medicine, working with other members of the healthcare team to provide direct medical care to patients.

His ultimate career goal is to start multiple urgent care centers somewhere in the city while also working towards creating a large general hospital in Nigeria where his parents came from.

“I know that these goals are lofty but push me in a certain direction. I will continue to work towards them in a logical and disciplined manner” expressed Dr. Mbachu.

Emergency medicine, also known as accident and emergency medicine, is the medical specialty concerned with the care of illnesses or injuries requiring immediate medical attention. An emergency physician works in an emergency department to care for acutely ill or injured patients on an unscheduled basis.

Through his mentorship and volunteer work, Dr. Mbachu has shown great dedication to aiding and empowering underserved communities.

As a UIC COM Urban Health Program and UIC COM Hispanic Center of Excellence scholar, he serves as a curriculum consultant and clinical sciences instructor for multiple health career pipeline programs. For example, with the UIC Emergency Medicine CHAMPIONS program and the Urban Health Program’s Science & Health Immersion Program, he has developed culturally and linguistically competent pathology workshops and lectures while also mentoring groups of educationally underserved pre-health high school students.

Furthermore, Dr. Mbachu has demonstrated community engagement by means of his volunteer work with the New Life Volunteering Society (NLVS) in which he served impoverished populations of patients who could not afford regular hospital services.

Working alongside his Student National Medical Association UIC Chapter, UIC Emergency Medicine Interest Group, and Latino Medical Student Association UIC Chapter peers, Dr. Mbachu continues to contribute to diverse community outreach initiatives aiming to improve health outcomes among underrepresented communities.

On a more personal note, his interests/hobbies include informatics, medical engineering, epic improvement, working out, gaming, and billiards.
