Additionally, he is board-certified in orthopedic surgery by the American Board of Orthopaedic Surgery. 

After earning his medical degree from the University of Oklahoma College of Medicine in Oklahoma City, Dr. Barker went on to complete his internship and residency at Southern Illinois University College of Medicine in Springfield, Illinois. Thereafter, he completed his fellowship at Rocky Mountain Spine Clinic in Aurora, Colorado, under the direction of Drs. John A. Odom and Eric R. Jamrich.

Orthopedic surgery or orthopedics, also spelled orthopaedics, is the branch of surgery concerned with conditions involving the musculoskeletal system. Orthopedic surgeons use both surgical and nonsurgical means to treat musculoskeletal trauma, spine diseases, sports injuries, degenerative diseases, infections, tumors, and congenital disorders.
