The Humane Center for Arthritis and Rheumatism diagnoses, treats, and medically manages patients with arthritis and other rheumatic diseases. After relocating to the United States, she continued her medical career as a postdoctoral research scientist at Columbia University in New York City, New York. After earning her Master of Science degree in Physical Therapy at New York Medical College, she went on to complete her residency in internal medicine at the same educational venue. This was followed by a fellowship in rheumatology at Thomas Jefferson University Hospitals in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. 

Before long, she became board-certified in both internal medicine and rheumatology by the American Board of Internal Medicine, a physician-led, non-profit, independent evaluation organization driven by doctors who want to achieve higher standards for better care in a rapidly changing world. 

Throughout the doctor’s extensive and fruitful career, she has published more than ten journal articles and has presented eight posters and abstracts at professional conferences. Apart from being a Fellow of the American College of Rheumatology, she serves as President of the New Jersey Rheumatology Association.

Rheumatology is a branch of medicine devoted to the diagnosis and therapy of rheumatic diseases. Physicians who have undergone formal training in rheumatology are called rheumatologists. Rheumatologists treat arthritis, autoimmune diseases, pain disorders affecting joints, and osteoporosis. There are more than 200 types of these diseases, including rheumatoid arthritis, osteoarthritis, gout, lupus, back pain, osteoporosis, and tendinitis.

In addition to English, Dr. Xiong speaks Mandarin and Sichuanese.
